چکیده

The progress of the textile industry has led to a severe increase in discharge colored effluents, polluted with dyes and metal ions (non-biodegradable, carcinogenic humans environmental hazards). implementation effective methodologies materials for treatment wastewater become an urgent requirement. present work describes application two samples mineral materials—Ghidirim diatomite modified diatomite—as adsorbents removal dyes—Acid Blue 350, Methylene Blue, Basic Red 2—and ions—copper, zinc, lead—from aqueous solutions. In order determine optimal working conditions by which ensure maximum efficiency, influence nature amount sorbent, initial concentration pollutant, temperature were studied. Working under normal (room temperature, solution pH) efficiencies greater than 80% obtained ions. adsorption fitted well pseudo-second kinetic model, capacities determined from Langmuir isotherm model. investigated pollutants is endothermic spontaneous process. results indicate that Ghidirim have potential applications water purification management, providing high efficiency both

Heavy Metal Removal from Water and Wastewater Using Raw and Modified Diatomite (TECHNICAL NOTE)

heavy metal removal from water and wastewater was investigated by using raw and modified diatomite from Iranian mines. Modification of diatomite was done by impregnating the diatomite surface with 0.35 g of manganese oxide in one gram of diatomite. This modified diatomite was named Mn-Diatomite. The surface area measurements for Mn-diatomite showed a 2.2 fold increase, hence higher removal capa...

Removal of methylene blue from aqueous solutions using modified clay

Introduction: Discharging of industrial colored wastewaters especially into aqueous environments can cause adverse effects on aquatic life due to their toxic natures. In this study, montmorillonite modified by hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (HDTMA-Mt) was used for the adsorption of methylene blue (MB). Materials and Methods: The influence of surfactant loading rate, contact time, pH, adso...

investigating the modified silica aerogel removal efficiency on removing the heavy metals from aqueous solutions

background: silica aerogel is the nano-porous form silica which is the lightest synthetic solid material. some specific properties of this material include high surface area (1500 m2.g-1), low density (< 0.03 g.cm-3) and high porosity (%99). in this research, silica aerogel was investigated as an adsorbent of the heavy metal cations in aqueous solutions. methods: the silica aerogel was synthesi...
